The Friendship Group is a drop-in club for people with learning disabilities aged 16+ years and it meets every Monday morning between 9.30am and 12.30pm at the St John Fisher Church in Manners Way (by Cuckoo Corner roundabout).
There are a choice of games that people can play like pool or table tennis, there is some art and craft work available, puzzles are also in provided for those that enjoy them and there is always music being played. Alternatively, you can just come along to simply catch up with friends.
The club provides students with a relaxed venue to come and simply socialise without any qualifications or other educational requirements that they need to meet as happens across the wide variety of other services available to them. In addition, if there is any activity or hobby that is of interest to a student, they are encouraged to bring this along to one of the sessions to see if the rest of the group would welcome it’s introduction to the sessions. This ensures our students are at the heart of developing the group so that it is always providing them with social opportunities that they are interested in.
It costs £1 to attend the group and there are refreshments that can be bought so it is advisable to bring some extra money to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee or maybe a chocolate bar or packet of crisps while you’re chatting with friends.
