The SMASH sports club has been running since January 2000 and provides sporting activities with qualified coaches for adults with learning disabilities.  However, to continue meeting our students ever changing needs, the club is now open to anyone with a learning disability aged 13 years and above.

They meet every Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm at a variety of venues.  The majority of the sessions take place at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre (twice a month) where a wide variety of sports are on offer including football, short tennis and use of the fitness suite.  The group also go swimming on the first Saturday of every month.  The group then visit a number of other venues to maintain a varied and interesting programme of events such as archery, ten pin bowling, pitch and putt golf and karate.

Each session costs £4 but this covers all sporting equipment and other supplies required to ensure members receive the full benefit of whichever sport or physical activity they are undertaking.

The club also holds an annual awards evening in the Spring to celebrate the successes and achievements of all those who attend.
